This Mitzvah Day UJW Cape Town was honored to be able to contribute goods to the Jewish Community Service cottages. Items donated included a lounge suite (2 couches and a chair); a bed; a huge flat screen TV; dinner plates and cereal bowls; clothing; towels and a food processor. 

Given its enormous benefit, Somerset Hospital has asked UJW Cape Town to expand the baby bag project to not only give one bag at birth, but a series of bags given every 3 months to the new mom, to help her throughout the first year to look after her baby. 

One of Cape Town’s 2019  Mandela Day projects was a special fancy dress party hosted by the Simcha Group at Noluntu Kitchen.

Mandela Day blankets for the residents of the Eric Miles Cheshire Home, which has 38 residents whose disabilities result from a number of causes – motor accident injuries, impairment from birth, illness and degenerative diseases.

On Mandela Day, Cape Town’s UJW volunteers packed bags laden with goodies such as blankets, clothing, toiletries – everything a new mom would need to look after her new little one. Great entertainment, a Creative Hat Competition, a wonderful tea and exciting goodie bags was Cape Town UJW’s way of saying ‘Thank you’ to those special women and men who do so much for us.
