Simply by becoming a member of the Union of Jewish Women, you will be helping to assist underprivileged persons both within and outside of the Jewish community. World Egg Day

UJW’s East London Branch celebrated World Egg Day in October in collaboration with Nulaid Eggs. Breakfast was provided for the children and staff  at Masizakhe Children’s Home outside East London.

A suitcase full of baby clothes

Cuddle Bundles, a charity organisation from Australia, sent  a suitcase full of baby clothes to UJW East London, which were presented to Salem Baby Centre.

Puffer Jackets Donated

UJW East London collaborated with Duck Apparel and donated puffer jackets to residents at Silver Crown Old Age home.

Tea Party for Senior Citizens

Annual Senior Citizens Tea Party

The EL UJW hosts an annual Senior Citizens Tea Party, attended by approximately 150 guests. The guests enjoy dancing and singing to their favorite golden oldies, and a scrumptious tea is served.

Mandela Day

400 Children at Cranberry Primary School received toothbrushes, tubes of toothpaste and apples as part of a ‘Catch the Cavity’ Campaign. An oral hygienist was on hand to teach the children about oral hygiene.

Wheelchair Donation

A wheelchair was donated to a young man who had been unable to leave his home or go outside for 3 years, and an appointment was set up for him to be seen by doctors at Frere Hospital.  

Donation to Frere Hospital for new moms

Baby goodies including clothes, nappies and blankets were donated to Frere Hospital for new moms. Beautiful hand-knitted dolls and beanies handed to the Paediatric Oncology Ward at Frere Hospital      

East London’s Adult Education Function

Masimanyane Women’s Support Centre

UJW packed 150 comfort packs for rape victims in the East London area. These were presented to Masimanyane Women’s Support Centre
