Baby bag handout – Bags for New Beginnings

UJW celebrated World Premmie Day by handing out 80 baby bags full of essential items to mothers in the Maternity Centre at Groote Schuur Hospital. This year’s baby bag drive was held in honour of the late Leaza Cowan, an ex-chairperson and vice-chair of UJW, who together with Sheryl Schkolne founded the Bags for New Beginnings project many years ago.

Leaza spent several years working as a community OT in London and had a special interest in premature babies, making this tribute especially meaningful. Thank you to everyone who donated in honour of Leaza – as her husband said “She would, I am sure be more than delighted to be honoured in this way. “
